Anyone had a bad DEXA scan that indicated possible Multiple Myeloma?
I'm a 73 year old woman and have had osteoporosis for several years. My last DEXA scan showed considerable bone loss in the last two years, especially in my lumbar spine, with a 10% decline from -3.2 to -3.9. My endocrinologist ordered a 24 hr urine test to find a reason. I'll do this test in a week. I haven't yet started any medications for osteoporosis.
I' m wondering if I should be concerned about Multiple Myeloma since I have a history of it in my family; my father and his mother both had it. My father was diagnosed at the young age of 56 and my grandmother in her 70's.
Has anyone else found they have MM through bad DEXA scores? I had complete blood work a year ago which was normal. My blood calcium levels have been in the high-normal range for several years.
