Anyone get hives from taking osteoporosis meds?

I developed hives across my trunk shortly after my first (and only, so far) Reclast Infusion. It lasted about four days and then cleared up. That said, I occasionally get hives from consuming anything that is a highly acidic (i.e strawberries and tomatoes in season). So, my totally non-professional, lay-woman theory is that the Reclast (generic name: Zoledronic Acid) must be acidic and therefore triggered the hives. My (once again, totally non-professional) treatment for my hives is to drink lots of water to flush out my kidneys. I figure it can’t hurt to drink more water! Good luck!

Thanks for responding! Thru PC doctor, broke out in hives after 4th weekly pill (alendondrate). Stopped meds. Hives kinda cleared up. Then prescribed risedronate. Again, after 4th weekly pill, broke out in hives. Doctor determined I am allergic to biphosphates. Stopped meds. Took about 4-5 months for meds to cycle out of system & hives to clear up. Referred to endocrinologist. Went over some options. Eclast was nixed because of biphosphate issues. Doctor decided on raloxifene. A daily pill with the thought, if allergy surfaces, daily pill cycles out of body quickly. After 2 months, again broke with hives. Have stopped this med. Go back to see endocrinologist in a couple of months. Had discussion about Prolia with Endo & my gynecologist but thought is, if allergy surfaces, could be very long time before cycling out of my system. Have had some general allergy test…all negative. Was just wondering if anyone has worked with their medical provider to come up with a plan of OTC drugs (calcium, vitamin D, etc) instead of prescribed meds combate osteo. BTW, I go to gym 5 days a week and have been doing this for years.
