I have had anxiety for over 20 years but this is new. Makes me worry about something more serious

Get it checked out.
I had a small lump on the left side of my neck. It throbbed now and then. Doctor said it was a swollen lymph node and not to worry. So I didn't.
The thing is, I had a stroke. After that, the lump and the associated throbbing went away.
I don't know for a fact what the cause of the stroke was, but I have to wonder.
So find out what the cause of your discomfort is. Better safe than sorry.

Welcome to Mayo Connect.
I agree with @scottrl , make an appointment with your primary provider to ask about. It is probably the carotid arteries that is pulsing. They are the blood vessels that supply blood to your brain, face and neck. You have two carotid arteries, one on each side of your neck. If I put my fingers right under jaw, I can feel my pulse
It may not have anything to do with anxiety, but if you have anxiety, you may be more anxious because of the change. Anytime there is a change, it is best to check it out.
If your concern about possibility of stroke like scottrl mention, learn about identifying signs of stroke using the F.A.S.T. method at following site: https://www.stroke.org/en/about-stroke/stroke-symptoms
