Yes and it’s very annoying. I tried just walking and that helped. I hear Vaseline and socks might work at night or when your relaxing
Itching has been a part of my SFN for years, even before other symptoms started. For years it was my scalp. I had a long period of itching in my breast, which initiated a lot of attention, as my mother had breast cancer. Neither place had any redness, and no cream or special shampoo helped at all. Now I’ve learned to ignore it if it flares up again. It’s those broken nerves!
Yes, really aggravating itching on heels and other spots. I use Sarna anti-itch lotion. It’s not easily available for me, but Amazon always stocks it. Shingles was the ultimate test —I used it on my face for post-lesion neuropathic itch. Great stuff!
Yes! This has been an on-again-off-again issue for at least 15 years. My diagnosis was digital symmetric axonal-demyelinating sensorimotor peripheral neuropathy. The itching is very random and annoying but I have found that just waiting a minute, or applying as great a pressure as you can generate on it is most likely to make it stop. No way does scratching work - it feels like it is somewhere very deep in the tissues.
Wishing you wellness,
Barb
Thanks so much for responding. It helps to know others are experiencing this too.
Thank you so much!
Someone on these boards suggested an anti itch cream called Sarna. I find it helps for my leg and foot burning and itching. I do not have SFN as the doctor thought, but I do experience the nerve pain and numbness from FMD.
Good Luck,
Kat
Thanks so much!
Lately my scalp has been very itchy at times.
Was wondering why.
I have commented on this before several years past. I can get this intense itching on my right foot or left foot (usually at 2 or 3 in the morning, but occasionally in the daytime) but never both feet at the same time. The itch comes in waves of a few seconds and then dissipates. It can appear at various spots of the foot. This can last anyware from a minute or two to several hours. Been to my family physician several times, but no help there. The solution for myself, I discovered, is to stratigically place electrical pads either side of the itch, turn on the machine, and let it do its thing. I named the product I was using in my last post, but I suspect folks thought I was trying to sell a product, so I won't bother naming it again. That electrical current completely stops the waves of intense itching for me.
