Anyone ever had immense pain& stiffness during sleeping.
My knees are one over 10yrs and one 4yrs out. Wokeup to immense pain and stiffness. I could barely walk. Legs walk drunk...zero swelling. Has eased through the day. Scared me. My back used to do this when I slept.

My TKR was 10 months ago and I still have severe pain even just turning over in bed
I had chronic pain for 10 months after TKR. It took five different medical pros to get the right diagnosis. I wasn't as severe as you describe. You must be terrified. My issue is urned out to be IT band syndrome plus knee and hip bursitis. Those conditions responded to sonar shockwave therapy. Try doctors from different specialties that deal with spine, hips, knees, muscles, and/or nerves. Somebody will figure this out, but you may have to try several doctors. Good luck. I hope you feel better soon.
Thanks, I’m looking into shocked wave therapy. Pretty sure the arthrofibrosis is the problem as well as nerve damage. Knee still puffy and range of bend decreased. Some firms of PT can actually exacerbate it.
That's really interesting, what you said about physical therapy aggravating tissue damage. I believe you are right. In looking back I feel certain that PT did lead to my bursitis and IT Band Syndrome.
I am 8 months post TKR. First 4 months hardly any sleep with pain. Only relief was to get up and walk. But couldn’t do that the whole night. My life was at a standstill from fatigue. Never had daytime pain. Now for past 3 months some nights are ok with some bad ones here and there. My prothesis must be ok as days are fine. I read that nerve regeneration can cause pain but I don’t know why the nights have been bad.
I think the knees just get stiff from lack of movement overnight. I’m trying shocked wave therapy for scar tissue and nerve damage tomorrow. I’ll let you know what it’s like.
I'm 14 months post TKR. For the first 6 months or so, sleep-time was the only time I needed to use the prescribed pain medication. During the day I just applied my cold pack. At night I had trouble finding a comfortable position for my leg, but the pain was just a deep aching that OTC meds wouldn't touch. Mostly my knee felt like it couldn't relax into a sleep position I was used to, and I'd have to lay either on my side with the new knee on the bottom, or on my other side with the new knee supported by my other leg. While I was awake, I'd stretch my leg out and then practice range of motion while laying on my side. Gradually I was able to relax my leg into my old familiar sleep positions. Since then, Tylenol is all I ever need, and the ache is only a problem if I've done an unusual amount of walking or tried something new. The new knee still seems to stiffen up pretty quickly, so even if I'm sitting I need to move it around.
Stiffness I can understand, but pain disturbing sleep is hard to deal with. Because NSAIDs don’t help, I am
thinking it has something to do with nerves. I think I should get an appointment with the surgeon.
I have that. It’s painful and I can’t turn over or get out of bed till I do ankle pumps, muscle flexes and rub some life into that leg/knee. Then I’m stiff and in the AM it takes time to flex to walk. I sure hope this goes away in time.
