Anyone else disappointed in the care?

Posted by aljarvis @aljarvis, 14 hours ago

I've been sick for over 10 years, ignored by numerous doctors, I finally got a referral to Mayo about a year and half ago. I was hopeful, I got a diagnosis and that was it, as if i should be happy to still feel awful, only now woth a name for it. Go back to your primary. I have had to fight nonstop for any further follow up. I've had several concerning test results, but nothing. They say repeat the test in so many months, but do it at home....my primary is not comfortable ordering stuff from someone else. It is so frustrating. I truly expected more from Mayo and thus far it has been so disappointing. Anyone else have this experience?

Hello @aljarvis,

I’m so sorry to hear about your experience with Mayo Clinic. Please be assured that Mayo Clinic would want you to feel comfortable and confident about your care and your time at Mayo. I’d sincerely encourage you to visit the Office of Patient Experience website https://www.mayoclinic.org/about-mayo-clinic/patient-experience .

There you will find contact information for the individual campuses, and also a general email. Staff are available to discuss comments or concerns you may have regarding your medical care.

Mayo Clinic reviews medical records and determine that the care a patient has received from their local providers is what they would do as well. Follow up appointments are often scheduled with a patient's local provider as well once Mayo Clinic has provided the care or diagnosis.

@aljarvis
I have heard of not good experiences with Mayo and being a waste of time and money because they walk away with nothing more than what they had before going.

What were you diagnosed with? What are your current symptoms and medications? What treatments have you had so far and what specialists are you working with locally?

What was the Mayo diagnosis? What was told to you by doctors previous to your Mayo experience?
