Any suggestions on what time of day is best for taking Hydroxyurea?
What time of day has worked best for everyone taking hydroxyurea? Neither my doctor or pharmacy suggested a time of day that helps with any possible side effects. I'm supposed to start taking it this week. Google searches say before or after food or at bed time.

I take 500 mg on MWF. I take them at bedtime.
I found that taking hydroxyurea around 9 p.m. worked best for me. I tried taking it in the morning but the drowsiness and becoming a bit clumsy due to hydroyurea had me change to a 9 p.m. dose.
At the start my hematologist recommended a half hour before or after a meal, I have tried different ways. I prefer after lunch. You need to drink a minimum of 64 ounces of water a day to get rid of the toxic effect.
Best wishes, Eileen
I take 500mg daily.
I was very tired taking HU in the a.m. so I tried after dinner.
No change - just as tired..🥱
My worst symptom is short of breath.
I'm only taking 1 500mg daily & was just curious if any one had noticed if a specific time of day works better over others when it came to any possible side effects.
I take two 500 mg capsules 4 days a week - one with breakfast and one with dinner. I like taking medications with food whenever possible as I believe it mitigates possible stomach-related side effects. Regardless, it works for me and my hematologist-oncologist is fine with it.
