Any suggestions on how to get my fasting glucose down?

I am vegan and eat healthy but my fasting glucose at my checkup was 99 and my A1c was 5.6 and both have continued to increase these past couple years so I decided to ask my doctor for a continuous glucose monitor so that I could see what foods I needed to cut out. I had already given up all sweets 2 weeks before I started using the CGM. But my fasting glucose rarely goes much below 100. I’m wondering if I am insulin resistant, so the last couple of days I have been fasting intermittently (16-17 hours). That hasn’t done much to bring down my fasting glucose either. Any suggestions?

Do you practice portion control? Even healthy carbs, veg and fruits can cause blood sugar to go up.

Good point. I don’t eat a ton of fruit but I do eat a lot of vegetables. Good advice to start monitoring the carbs I’m getting with all those vegetables. Thanks
