Any Recurrent High-Risk Vets Here On VA-Approved Orgovyx or Nubeqa?
Greetings!
I am a 74+ year-old 'recurrent, high-risk, localized (but advanced), castrate-sensitive, non-metastatic' military veteran, and I'm wondering whether anyone here with similar stats, has ever been approved or received a valid script, for either Orgovyx or Nubeqa from VA Health?
And even if you're not a vet, but you fit that general diagnostic description, and you received approval from Blue Cross/Blue Shield health insurance, I'd still love to hear from you.
Thanks to All!

Ancan.Org has a Veterans Healthcare meeting the first and third Tuesdays of every month at 5 PM Pacific time. Captain Jim Marshall has worked with people for years helping them get the best treatment they can get using outside insurance and/or VA they have. You do need to install GoTo Meeting On your device in order to join the event. To join the meeting just put ancanschmier for the meeting room name.

4 Reactions@jeffmarc Thank you Jeff! I've seen reference to that group before, and frankly, I've just been too busy here to pursue it, but it makes perfect sense and I certainly will try to attend future meetings.
Short answer, no...
I am a veteran and age 70, ergo my health care coverage comes from Medicare and TRICARE for Life.
The latter serves as my Part D.
When I proposed to my medical team in April 2023 going on Orgovyx vs say Lupron, their reaction was that may be too expensive...
I asked them to submit the script, they did, $68 for 90 days...
So, 22 years of "FTA" or fun, travel and adventure does have some benefits!

Tricare seems to be an ideal type of insurance. Allow you to go almost anywhere. If only everybody could do that!!!

I've been waiting months, and navigated countless referrals and consults in multiple states, with everyone from PeeWee Herman to God himself, only to learn that the VA is unlikely to cover any of it, nor (from the sounds of it), will Blue Cross/Blue Shield. Given the indisputably 'distasteful' nature and effects of these various ADT meds, I would liken the whole journey to a death-row inmate, eagerly awaiting his repeatedly 'stayed' execution, but then, that's just me and my personal feelings. So please don't go telling anyone, because when (and if) confronted about it, I'll deny that I ever said it. 😉
@jeffmarc
Should be the '"standard," not the exception.
