Any pointers, we meet with pulmonologist regarding lung transplant?
We will be meeting via phone with Mayo pulmonologist on Thursday to discuss a lung transplant for my husband. If you have any pointers or suggestions to help us, I would appreciate it.

1 ReactionThanks for asking. Said the MN ayo doesn't really have a transplant list. Says it goes more by need. They don't necessarily go by chronological age but more your health age. That being said, doctor pretty much said at 78 the chances aren't real good at getting a lung transplant. Thankfully my husband is doing pretty good as he goes to pulmonary rehab 2 x a week and physical therapy 1x a week. He works out at home too every day. Unfortunately he has shin splints right now and can't do treadmill. We are on our way back to Mayo as we speak to deal with his premature ventricular contractions.

4 Reactions@annchristiansen2623, how did the phone consultation go? Which Mayo location? How are you doing?
Try to write up your list of questions to go through before you are on the call to begin with. A lot of the questions that you would have is based on your case and where you are in the process. What is your placement on the list? I am not sure how far you live from the center you will be going to, but I wasn't allowed to be outside of a 2 hour radius of the hospital in case I got the call. Is there any requirements that you need to meet? I wasn't allowed to loose any more weight (only weighed 97lbs at the time I went into the hospital, but they were able to get me back above 100 for the surgery). Good luck.
