Any CANADIANS with Newly Diagnosed DCIS?

Hello @sue417 and other Canadian Friends: I have often addressed a Risk Assessment test that my Radiation Oncologist ordered for me (in the US), to evaluate the value of using Radiation Treatment - DCISionRT by PreludeDX.

Yesterday, I discovered DCISionRT is just beginning to be available in CANADA at NO COST to the patient!

DCISionRT evaluates a patient’s individual biology along with other risk factors to provide a personalized risk assessment. It predicts the risk of a future DCIS or invasive breast cancer recurrence over the next 10 years with and without the use of Radiation Treatments.

Initially, I did NOT want Radiation Treatments; I was very concerned about the risks associated with having them. It was only when I received the results of the DCISionRT test that I realized my cancer risk without the radiation treatments was Elevated. With an accuracy of 94%, the results are very reliable.

Based on my results, I decided to do the recommended six weeks of treatment. NOTE: My radiology oncologist had me lay on my belly, to avoid as much as possible injury to other tissue or organs, such as lungs and heart.

Hi @danielad, I’m curious about which province you’re in and how you went about getting it covered? I’m in BC and recently asked about it prior to radiotherapy and was told it’s not standard of care for DCIS and that they wouldn’t order it for me. So frustrating as it seems crucial information prior to deciding on treatment.

@homebird - Hello! Actually, I don't reside in Canada. I was trying to help a Canadian who lives in Ontario. I wrote the company to find if they offered the test in Canada. I am very happy to tell you that the Canadian blogger found out that her hospital IS participating in the Pilot program I described above and has requested to participate. SUCCESS!!!

But, going to you - You are ABSOLUTELY right in wanting this test!!! If you would like to send me your email address, I will ask the company to connect with you directly. They will be able to tell you which hospitals participate in the Pilot and will add other information. If you do, please send me all of this via Private Message.

HUGS!
