Anxiety while on Effexor XR in late afternoon

I take 112.5 mg of Effexor xr at the same time every morning since November and feel fine until about 3 pm when I experience heart pounding anxiety through the evening. Could this be the result of it’s short half life? I’m having a hard time figuring out what’s causing it, but know it’s some type of chemical imbalance.

Does anyone else experience this? Is splitting the dose a good option?

Hey there! I am wondering how long this has gone on. I was also on Effexor for 3 years and I am currently weaning off of it and trying Cymbalta because my Effexor suddenly stopped working for me. I would have anxiety attacks first thing in the morning after taking my medicine at night. I also tried halfing the dose (1/2 during the day and 1/2 at night), but the symptoms still continued and my psychiatrist said that Effexor "pooped out" on me. This could be happening to you or it could be the short half life.
