Anti-Inflammatory Supplements after Joint Replacement
I had my right knee replaced five weeks ago. I have lots of swelling and inflammation and I’m wondering if anyone takes supplements to help with the inflammation that has had a knee replacement? Sleeping is absolutely horrible at night. From what I understand this is common with a knee replacement but I am so exhausted.

I was told curcumin and bosweilla are good for inflammation. I don't like taking lots of nsaids.
Another way to reduce inflammation is to cut out or cut way back on refined sugar. Sugar causes inflammation in the body.
When I looked closely, sugar was in a lot of things I ate, even pasta sauce and raisins! But the biggest offender in my book are sweet soft drinks/carbonated sodas. I drank regular coke most of my life. I cut out the coke and scaled way back on other sweets. I lost a lot of weight and my joints feel better.
I have been using Voltarin. A bit of a pain since it needs to be cumulative but it works.
I take about 700 mg turmeric twice a day, green tea extract with ECG once a day and use biofreeze, 5% lidocaine patches, 50 mg Lyrica at night for nerve pain.
You posted this some time so not sure if you're still tracking. I hope your inflammation problem has been solved.
I've had both knees replaced and sleep with a memory foam pillow between my knees. It feels great and my knees are in great shape. I'm well over a year post-TKR with no inflammation or swelling. I do work out a lot to keep my leg muscles strong and protect the implants. Hope this helps you or someone else. All the best!
It’s common to have pain & swelling, & frequent icing is very important. My surgeon insisted I take Celebryx for 6 weeks for the inflammation, but I had to stop it after about a week because of severe hyponatremia, (low sodium.). All NSAIDS have potentially serious side effects, so although they can help & do reduce inflammation, they also have the potential to do harm. (As I’m sure you know, always take an NSAID with food, as they can cause GI bleeding.)
