Angular Cheilitis / Angular Chelitis / Perleche

Having lots of difficulty curing angular cheilitis and preventing it from recurring again. Food is a vital part of my family and culture. Angular cheilitis has even given me some sort of anxiety, dread, and nervousness when it comes to eating certain kinds of foods due to needing to open mouth large enough to consume that food. I can recall that it started due to drooling during sleep at night and eventually the skin at corner of mouth cracked. PCP prescribed Clotrimazole 1% cream to apply to area twice a day. I have been using for about 2 weeks and petroleum jelly throughout day but just when I think it has cleared up, I will get a crack again if I open my mouth to eat something large like how I used to do normally before this. Wanted to hear everyone's thoughts and experiences with this very frustrating condition.
