Amoeba risk?

Posted by crawfordjake475 @crawfordjake475, 5 days ago

I'm spiraling right now and need a reality check. On Friday, I had a small scooter crash that left a minor abrasion/cut on my palm. It wasn't deep, just a little cut. I put some zinc ointment on it and it seemed to be scabbing over nicely by Sunday.
On Sunday, I had to help my dad move some dirty bricks. I had no choice but to handle them because my dad really needed help. It had rained on Thursday, but the bricks were completely dry after sitting in 110°F weather for two days. I'm not immunocompromised, but now I'm absolutely terrified that I got Balamuthia mandrillaris or Acanthamoeba from handling the dirty brick with my small cut.
Does this sound like a high-risk situation? I'm trying to be logical, but my anxiety is through the roof. I've read that Balamuthia can enter through skin wounds and that Acanthamoeba can affect immunocompetent people.
My cut looked like it had a small abrasion/cut on it when I handled the brick. What's the likelihood of an amoeba getting in, and even if it did, what's the chance a healthy immune system would handle it? Should I be worried about this? Any advice or similar experiences would be helpful.

crawfordjake475, Bless you. I am not a doctor, but, I looked this up and it appears that it is very rare and mostly
happens in ponds, lakes and streams.

I would definitely keep the place clean with peroxide or alcohol if it's not raw and follow up with Neosporin or
Polysporin and cover with a bandage.

I am praying for you right now and for this place on your palm to heal for you.

Blessings & Prayers....
