One suggestion. Keep up to date with developments relevant to cancers issues of personal importance. And make note of the senior study designers. There might come a time when you'll want to learn more and want to contact them. (Or find out whom they consider experts about a certain drug or protocol.)
And here's just a small sample of today's articles:

3. Research Shows Poor Patient Comprehension of Terms Commonly Found in Electronic Health Information
“One of the things that was really surprising was we asked on the survey whether the respondent is a health-care worker, but the data showed that being one didn’t correlate with better understanding of medical terms,” Dr. Verosky said."

Not sure this is right place to post but about 3 years ago I had breast cancer After about 2 years after started seeing primary for cancer blood work Lately i have been feeling really strange and feel something is wrong so I called up Lacrosse to see if I could get a check up with the nurse I was seeing I was told by her to come back anytime .So I called and was told to just go see my primary dr.They would not set up appointment for me. How can someone at mayo tell you that first five years are very important
@sclark3, you must feel gutted. The transfer of care between your cancer care team and primary care physician can be confusing. Your primary care physician is the right place to start. They know you best and will perform any and all necessary tests to rule out possible causes to your symptoms. If a cancer recurrence or new cancer is even suspected, your care will continue with the cancer specialists at Mayo Clinic via your primary care physician's referral.
You know your body. If something feels off, then you know to take action. Please call your PCP asap. Over the weekend, I also recommend taking note of your symptoms and try to define what feels strange or off. This will help your PCP to investigate further. S/he will likely start with blood work.
My experience with Mayo PCP and Oncology team collaboration has been execellent. I am stage4 cancer patient, and had pain problems that couldn’t be identified by my Oncologist. He sent me to my PCP who tested me in person and with X-rays. The problem was identified (not cancer)within 24 hours, and the PCP called me to provide more information. Then he called the Oncologist, and surgeon team to get me an appointment to treat the problem. I have found good collaboration between Departments one of Mayo’s real strengths. Hope you do also.
