Alcohol and pain medication leading to depression

Posted by wendyhobbie @wendyhobbie, Dec 21, 2023

I’m a cancer survivor and have nerve damage from the waist down my backside and feet. Have constant pain but low doses of Oxycodone keep me in motion. Currently a fractured foot bone and recovering from lumbar caging.
I take 90ml of cymbalta and 200 of Lyrica daily but still feeling like I’m heading downhill

The title of your posts suggest that you are either drinking alcohol or considering doing so, while on oxycodone.

The science and my own personal experience is clear; this is a very bad idea.

Alcohol is a depressant and combining it with another medicine with depressive like effects will, no surprise, make you feel depressed. No amount of antidepressants will make any difference.

Simply put alcohol has no upside.

I hope you can find the answers and the peace you deserve.
