After TKR getting enough protein and calories

Posted by terryjg54 @terryjg54, Oct 9, 2021

I had TKR on both knees a week apart last month. It was drilled into me to get 60 grams of protein a day to aid in recovery. Well first I couldn't look at food and now it doesn't taste all that great. I've quit the meds to try to help. I can get enough protein during the day but I've lost 8 pounds that I didn't need to and worry this can't be good. I'm sure my body is burning calories like crazy with rehab, walking, and repair. What do others do to up their calories?

Thank you. I see my surgeon tomorrow and will discuss. My therapist didn't have much to offer. I'm trying little meals through the day but feel like I fill up after a few bites or the food feels dry. I try to have a bowl of something near me at all times. I had hoped this would end when I got off the percocet. I want to make every bite count but I have had some luck with ice cream. At least the therapy is going well! Thanks again.
