After the surgery, a hole was made in the posterior tonsil pillar area

Hello. I want to let you know that I was very scared at first. I had tonsil surgery 10 days ago. I had extreme pain on my right side. After the mesh white crusts were peeled off, I saw that a hole had formed in my tonsil curtain. I think the doctor made the wrong cut. There is a 3-4 cm hole in the "posterior tonsil pillar" part. Will this hole stay with me for life? Does it affect my quality of life? Can't it be stitched again? I will be glad if you help me.

Hello @cemsid. I am not an ENT surgeon, but do have experience as a veterinary surgeon. These questions are better suited to be directed to your surgeon or another ENT. I don't know what kind of tonsil surgery you had, but if infection was involved than often incisions are left open to allow for drainage of infectious material. An incision may be left open to allow for normal fluid (serum) drainage to avoid swelling in a closed pocket. Open incisions heal slowly by secondary intention healing where healthy granulation tissue fills the opening until the surface skin or mucous membrane can grow over. Can you present your questions to your surgeon or the nurse to alleviate your stress?

Hello. The doctor said there was no problem. If it hinders you, they can solve the problem with stitches. I drank room temperature beer in my 20 days. My throat hurts now
