Advice on Penis pumps
I am 4 months post prostate surgery and soon to start radiation since some cancer still evident. The mental stress of cancer is bad enough but not having sex with my wife adds greatly to my getting down . I bought a pump from menmd a month ago but not able to get rigid enough for sex and the rubber tension ring is semi painful and makes any amount of of pleasure difficult. I’m tempted to try injections but with radiation and hormone treatments which kill my testosterone, maybe I should be more patient?

I’ll take the cane
Graybeard, once again I am forced to give you a little smack off the back of your head!😁
Just yesterday I visited my friend Billy, a retired town judge, who had a stroke 2 yrs ago while fishing off Shelter Island. He is in a wheelchair and has tried everything to try to walk again; he’s doing some crazy alternative medicine thing now drinking DMSO and getting electropulse therapy or something. I told him he has nothing to lose at this point. He’s on medication for depression cause he just wants to die.
He said all he dreams about is walking with a cane - a cane, not even walking like he used to!! That’s how bad his experience has been.
So imagine being wheelchair bound for the rest of your life and your doctor said you could get out of that chair forever….BUT, you’d be impotent.
I know what my choice would be….
So are you happy with your decision? Regrets?
After using the penis pump for a few months, I got a really bad rash from the water-based lubricant they use. Well, that was the end of the penis pump.
lol, hit the nail on the head , what’s important to one is not to another, I asked my wife how would feel if you had to live the rest of your life in a wheelchair, that’s how I feel
Agree. What happened to "Do no harm"?
You pay (a lot) for a quality service. He works for you.
You're not getting what you paid for & a doctor who's ready to give up already, is worthless.
Go somewhere else.
How would he like it if he took his pride & joy car to a mechanic & the guy said "Yeah, this is stuffed. Push it over a cliff. That'll be 500 bucks, thanks."
They do give you double the amount of Lupron in a six month shot versus a three month shot the Lupron dissolves it a very slow rate and is supposed to dissolve at the exact same rate whether it’s a three month or a six month shot. I wonder if something else could be the reason for your problems, But you never know how Lupron will affect every Different person, you may be an exception.
The effects of Lupron get worse over time. The brain fog the muscle deterioration take time to happen. Even the hot flashes may not appear at the beginning.
A one Month Lupron shot is 1/3 of the amount of a three month shot. Maybe you want to try that next time Just to see if that makes a difference for you.
Wild horses couldn’t keep me from trying even if I have to find a young cadaver lol😂
Graybeard - no wonder you are depressed dealing with this imbecile! Sorry, no amount of letters after your name makes you “smart” or a TopDoc when you talk to patients in this manner.
Not saying that he should agree with your version of treatment, but He should be offering words of encouragement and solutions to your problems - NOT telling you “Dude, you’re gonna be dead soon, hug your grandkids…”
I think you should dump this guy after your treatment is complete - OR leave him now and get a second opinion on continuing ADT.
Who knows, maybe some other doc will agree with him that you do only have 5 yrs left and you should spend them screwing your brains out….just sayin…
Glad to see you say when treatments are over you will keep trying. I did not realize you were doing hormone. One reason I went to a lot of effort was hormone was yet to come and would suppress ( loss of libido effect.). Kinda "make hay while the sun shines" approach.
Once treatment is over if you persevere with the pump you will get ok with the pain/discomfort and results will come. (no pun intended). Good luck.
