Has anyone ever had a sesamoid bone removed (sits under the big toe)? If so, did it end up helping your pain?
I’ve just had two foot surgeries this summer; one for Morton’s neuroma removal and a hammer toe (but at distal joint so they called it a Mallet toe, and I got a screw in that joint. Then 6 weeks later in the other foot I had a “real hammer toe” straightened with a rod put in and then removed it and another mallet toe fixed with a screw.
NOW, out of the blue my sesamoid bone is hurting on the first foot (I’ve always had arthritis on the big toe a little but not this pain).
Prior to this was a very active 66 year old who hiked a lot and swam. Getting very discouraged. Finally back to swimming but cannot walk much at all. Any ideas or direction would be so helpful. I am going to wait at least another 6-8 months before I do any thing, if at all.
