Just diagnosed with gastroesophageal adenocarcinoma. Very scared

On November 8 I consult with surgeon. Nov 9 I have pet scan at 930, mapping at 2, then go over results pet scan at 430...kinda anxious today

I believe I am getting a handle on posting. If I missed anyone I am sorry. Right now does anyone have ideas on keeping weight on?

I have stage 4 esop. cancer went with Flofox and Keytruda then developed Type 1 diabetes this summer due to this along with a drop right foot. Saw the neck surgeon Friday and he and my Ocon. want me to remove esop. and pull up stomach. Has anyone had this surgery?

My husband had an esophagectomy at the end of July this year. He’s still doing enteral feedings, but he’s able to eat small portions by mouth. Recovery is long, exercise and keeping a positive /fighting attitude is important.

My husband had Stage 3 in October of last year. He had 5 treatments of Chemo and 26 treatments of proton radiation from November to January after which he had a espohagectomy in March. The recovery for him was long and he had a setback or two, but Mayo staff was helping him every step of the process. He is now eating smaller amounts of food but normal foods (with some exceptions). He is working now to build up his iron levels and exercise more to build his endurance.

Did they propose immunotherapy to prevent recurrence ? If not … why?

I had my port in today, 2 more scans Wednesday. Then Oncologist on Monday to talk about treatment. I start chemo on the 28th, having a rough time dealing with whole thing.

They did but unfortunately Doug had a “leak” and was rehospitalized and then developed blood clots so he missed the window of opportunity for the immunotherapy. If the timing would have been better our oncologist was supporting it for Doug.

How is your mother progressing?
