Adenocarcinoma Diagnosis CT scan

Posted by annenglander @annenglander, Mar 12 4:21pm

I was diagnosed with Adenocarcinoma in my rectum. I had a CT scan and the results don't seem that likely that it spread, but many things I read in this group make out that the CT's are pretty useless and the MRI is what really matters.
Should I take my results with a grain of salt?

Really? Maybe that is unique to colon cancers but the scans used effectively for lung cancer are CT and PET - .
I don’t recall reading that anyone had an MRI Brain cancer would likely be an exception as I think about it. Maybe colon is as well. …

I found this reference
…MRI is the best imaging test to find where rectal cancer has grown. Ultrasound. An ultrasound creates a picture of the internal organs using sound waves to find out if cancer has spread. Endorectal ultrasound is commonly used to find out how deeply rectal cancer has grown and can be used to help plan treatment.

Here’s the source article. I highlighted the section I included above.
