Has anyone had success with acupuncture to reduce coughing?
Thanks for your input.

kc88 @kc88 The only thing acupuncture helped me with was relaxation. It wasn't until I worked to control reflux/gerd/heartburn that my cough diminished. That and near complete lung clearance each session. Having said that, sometimes I'm troubled a bit by nighttime coughing and I think it's because during my 2nd clearance session I am bit lazier! Coughing is not a problem for me during the day. It varies from person to person with disease state. I have bronchiectasis and asthma, and am working hard to limit it to those 2 things.

This is a site I like a lot-- https://bronchiectasis.com.au/physiotherapy

In general, I take NAC and a long acting mucinex tablet with a glass of water. Then, I nebulize with levabulterol .63% and then nebulize 7% saline. Some people prefer to take 2 puffs of albuterol instead of nebbing levalbuterol. For clearance, I use the free autogenic drainage app (AD app) available on iPhone or Android stores but does not work with Sprint. It's like a breathing and huff cough coach.

Ask away. You're in good company. Plus, there's a ton of useful information in this forum, which can easily be searched on the MAC Bronchiectasis main page.

I noticed there are several apps, some with bad reviews.
Can I ask the name of the one you use?

I tried six sessions of accupuncture and it never helped my cough at all. The acupuncturist thoroughly researched bronchiectasis and tried to target that. Like scoop, I found it relaxing but that is all.

I have also done a lot of acupuncture with the hope of reducing my cough and assisting with MAC. It did neither. But, it was very relaxing and I found that to be quite beneficial since dealing with BE and MAC can be quite stressful at times. As Scoop does, I take take NAC and a long acting mucinex tablet 2x per day. That combined with my routine: 2 puffs Albuterol inhaler, nebulizing 7% hypertonic saline while using my Aerobika devise, followed by 20 minutes of compression vest 2x per day have had a significant impact on the reduction of my cough. And, let's not forget the importance of regular exercise, positive thinking and a healthy diet. Best of luck to you!

I was wondering if the 7% saline nebulizer product sold on Amazon is safe for use? It does not require a prescription as does the 3% I am currently using.
