Acid and thick phlegm

Posted by Ryman @ryman, Oct 20, 2018

After having botox injections in my esaphagus in early Summer, my throat just seems to get worse. Lately I have very thick phlegm with acid reflux that wakes me. It chokes me and I have a hard time breathing until I get it coughed out. I dread going to sleep. The doctors wanted me to do the injections again but I won’t. I have tried several times to get an apt. They say they will call but don’t. I think I would have to go to Buffalo NY to see another gastroenterologist. Does anyone know of a natural treatment?

@sylvermoon8 I have experienced that! What eased it was raising the head of my bed with bed risers under the two top legs/casters of the bed.

Also, I stopped eating and drinking at 8:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. the latest - since I usually go to bed around midnight. I avoid any clothing that presses against my abdomen (even resting my hand/arm lightly on my abdomen can trigger reflux!) and I avoid doing anything that requires me to bend forward.

My husband did the vacuuming, sweeping and mopping for some years, but since he is not well now either, we have resorted to having a cleaning service once a month. It has been hard on our budget, but it has been money well spent. It’s a treat to go out when the cleaners arrive, and come home a couple of hours later to a clean house!

@rashida I sleep on a wedge and try to not drink after 9:00pm. This happened in the middle of the day and I bent forward to pick something up. My husband does some of the things I can’t do now too. He’s not ready to get cleaners! But this year I may just get them to do some of the big tasks like cleaning of kitchen cabinets….. I wish you both well in the new year.
