Abnormally low prolactin, what's the cause
19 y.o., about 136 lbs, 5'4, female.
(For reference, this was done in November 2024, levels are about the same now)
Total testosterone - 30 ng/dL
LH - 10.9 mlU/mL
Estradiol - < 15 pg/mL
Progesterone - 35 ng/dL
FSH - 6.9 mlU/mL
TSH - 1.48 mlU/L
PROLACTIN - < 1.0 ng/mL
Why in the world would my prolactin be so low?
And no matter what I do my periods are always SUUUPER irregular.
I was ALSO told I have PCOS according to the ultrasound, but there are no other signs except missed periods. (And all they're offering is provera...they're not telling me the cause)
No one can explain why my prolactin is so low and I can't find much information about this on the internet.
Any ideas??
I would REALLY appreciate it.

Welcome to Mayo Connect. I agree with you that there is not much information about low prolactin, most articles are on high prolactin. The pituitary gland controls many hormones, including prolactin. Hopefully a member of Connect can share their experience with low prolactin.
Have you seen an endocrinologist to discuss your blood test and ask if additional test should be run on your pituitary gland?
I have gone to the endocrinologist earlier this year, and they did an MRI of my brain. I don't have any pituitary tumors/adenomas. I plan on going again soon; hopefully they find the cause.
