abnormal finding is PL-12 AB
abnormal finding is PL-12 AB sounds like a death sentence. I actually do not have any of the symptoms. Only hip pain.

@joyceflorida Welcome Mayo Clinic Connect! I’m glad that you found the site. MCC is an all-volunteer site where persons tell their story about their health journey and the obstacles that they have run into and now they are looking for solutions. In truth, none of us are familiar with lab values, so we are unable to comment on them.
Have you asked your physician about the PL-12. AB? Their answer?
What are the symptoms that you are lucky enough to have missed?
Hello,
Copied from Chatgpt:
Here’s what that means in plain language:
These antibodies (JO-1, PL-7, PL-12, etc.) are part of a myositis-specific antibody panel, often ordered when a doctor is looking for certain autoimmune muscle or connective tissue disorders, like polymyositis, dermatomyositis, or antisynthetase syndrome.
PL-12 antibody is one of the “antisynthetase” antibodies.
When positive, it can sometimes be linked to antisynthetase syndrome, which may involve muscle inflammation, joint pain, and sometimes lung involvement (interstitial lung disease).
However, a positive test doesn’t automatically mean you have the disease — it just means your immune system has made this antibody, and your doctor will interpret it along with your symptoms, physical exam, and possibly imaging or other labs.
All other antibodies are negative (within normal range).
The next step is usually to review:
Symptoms (muscle weakness, shortness of breath, joint stiffness, skin changes, etc.)
Other tests (muscle enzymes like CK, lung function, imaging, or a rheumatology exam)
I only have hip pain also. I find Chiropractic adjustments help me.
Thank you for the education, Joyce. It was very helpful. It sounds like the Doc gave you something to think about.
I am under a Rumatologist care at the moment. I'm not sure what his recommendations will be. I'm doing my homework and trying to get as much information as I can before seeing him this week. I have missed all the symptoms but hip pain. I've been dealing with that for over 2 years now.
Also at the same time, I have been diagnosed with osteoporosis. I also was diagnosed with Hemochromatosis 2 years ago.
I have thought about going to to the Mayo Clinic where I can have a thorough investigation on all of this. I'm not sure if one plays off of the other. ugh!!
