Abdominal pain, loss of appetite, weight loss, repeated infections

Posted by claudiabrende @claudiabrende, Aug 1, 2018

38 year old with chronic stomach infections and nothing showing up on scans. Ugh. Weight loss, nauseous, abdominal pain and cramping, bowel changes, unexplained bruising, and repeated infections in the colon, intestine, and kidneys, unexplained bruising, and issues with getting my blood to stop after lab work. Please help if you have any insight. Most scans and test are turning up so I will be heading to Mayo in September but very scared I won't make till then with symptoms increasing. I don't know if this makes sense to anybody but at this point, I'm wondering if it a blood disorder, autoimmune with constant infections, or something rare that somebody on this site can relate to you. I also have had an increase in UTIs, and kidney infections,

Some of your symptoms sound like they could be attributed to Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency (EPI). I would ask your doctor to check your stool elastase.

Hey, not sure if this thread is still active or not - but, I too, am dealing with a lot of frustrating symptoms. For 2 years now (& progressing), I've been consistently nauseous everyday; a lot of times, 75% + of my day. They found a liver tumor last year, but are just closely monitoring it for now. I can't keep weight on, all my labs are "normal", CTA has already been done; no pancreatitis or endometriosis; an ovarian cyst w/in normal limits for size. Thyroid is normal, but metabolism is thru the roof; I'm not even active. Adrenals / cortisol is good, IDA (since birth), consistently low BP as of last few months, high heart rate w/ PVCs, pelvic pain / bloat...I've got a slew of other problems, but nothing related to this (as far as I know). I can't get in to see any of my Drs til June (GI included) and the nausea is over-the-top. I can't eat or drink hardly; I feel like puking a good portion of my day (sometimes do) and nothing improves; it only gets worse over time. Help! Any ideas or suggestions? I've tried numerous things already... 🙁 thanks y'all.

I was having similar digestive problems and found out it was the Excedrin causing the ailments.

Oh really? That's interesting. Only medication I take regularly is Gabapentin at pretty high dose.

My oncologist gave me a prescription for nausea so I could keep food down. It really worked…I didn’t lose any weight during 6 months of chemotherapy

Sorry for your pain and lack of diagnosis. You may want to rule out an IgA deficiency - it’s a simple blood test to check your plasma and immune functioning.
