Thyroid cancer survivor for a year: What could've caused cancer?

Posted by nke @nke, Mar 28, 2023

One year is passed after myPTC treatment. I still dont know what caused my cancer. I have a healthy diet and do sports regularly and dont smoke. Sometimes Im sad why this happened to me. CAN MY LIPSTICK BE THE REASON?

nke, i was wondering how your year went with taking the thyroid medicine? i have been reading where a lot of people had to have differernt adjustments. i just finished tuesday with the left lobe being removed, no cancer there compared to the right lobe, full of it, right vocal chord removed, 11 of 19 lymph nodes had cancer. this choking feeling in my throat is no pleasure, the lump feeling in the throat is no fun either. i do want you to know i love your sense of humor about the lipstick, however, i have in the past heard some strange things about lipstick. lets face it, everything is scary. other than that, you are fine? wish you the best. take care.

@nke, so often we wrangle with trying to find the cause. Sometimes there may be a possible or probable cause for some cancers like exposure to chemicals or a genetic predisposition. But often the cause is not clear. There are things we can do to lower the risk of cancer, like eating well and exercising, not smoking, etc. But these things do not guarantee that we don't get cancer.

You're doing all the right things to stay healthy. Keep it up and enjoy life.

Like @lilyann, I'd like to know how treatment was for you this past year. How are you feeling now? What is your follow-up schedule with your cancer team?
