A side benefit from radiation?

Just saw this article about the potential that radiation used to treat cancer reduces amyloid placques in the brain that are caused by alzheimers, a side effect...a benefit we can be happy about?

@longboat1 now that would be an amazing discovery. With all the long term “gifts” that radiation therapy keeps on giving, having a positive one would be nice. It looks like a lot more studies will be needed to see if this is going to be supported by the medical profession. And the low dose radiation for breast cancer that they describe is far different from the direct full dose that we head and neck patients receive to our brains. My old and experienced head and neck radiation oncologist assured me that there would be some short term memory loss from my radiation therapy. Thirteen years later I don’t know if it is radiation or age causing my memory to bog down. In any case, let’s think positively that perhaps all our suffering with radiation might bring another benefit besides killing cancer. Thanks for sharing this article.
