77 year old male with abdominal cutaneous nerve entrapment

I was diagnosed with ACNES about 4 years ago. I have had 2 injections so far, and now need another. The shots worked well . They relieved the severe pain just about instantly. This condition probably was caused by a small abdomen hernia surgery I had a couple years before onset of the problem. I spent 2 years with gastro and many emergency room visits all telling me it was stomach ailments. I was finally sent to pain management and she correctly diagnosed my pain. my question is, has anyone had successful surgery?

I wish you well. I'm glad you got diagnosed. My wife never got diagnosed, correctly. And has been suffering for to long. Now we're at point of hospice. I wished she could have gotten a shot to make the pain go away.

If only medical care happened as we often see it on TV shows... patient comes into hospital with puzzling, painful ailment. Soon, a team of specialists is working on the case. ordering CAT scans, MRIs, blood work, etc. There are meeting to discuss the case in depth, giving all kinds of diagnoses. When several treatment plans don't work, and things look bleak, one of the team members comes up with an "outside the box" plan. The procedure, which takes 18 to 24 hours, solves the problem. Patient and family go home! Ah,,, if only.
Reality for me in at least two instances: severe pain requires MRI and PT. Little to no help. Go to orthopedic surgeon. Takes a cursory look at MRI and paperwork. After less than a minute, he says, "They've done all that can be done. There's nothing else that can be done. Just live with it". That was seven years ago. I quickly learned to be my own best advocate.
