Any other females here with bladder cancer in their 50s?

Posted by talltxlady @talltxlady, Apr 25, 2023

Saying hello as a new member. Sometimes it's difficult to find info for females with bladder cancer, and sometimes it would be nice to have others to connect with.
Start BCG again in May. Have been off of it since December. It has been so nice not to have to think about any of that for a while. Starting to get nervous though, with bcg beginning again very soon. Praying the cancer stays away.
I think I'm the youngest one where I'm being treated. Any other females here with bladder cancer in their 50's?

I to am a new member. Am waiting for my appointment for my scope. I've been having blood in my urine for some time now. I'm a bit anxious about it. Oh and I'm 62 years old.

Hi. I was just diagnosed with bladder cancer. Age 51. Invasive. Aggressive. Have been told, that the best thing is to have my bladder removed. Still in shock. I got the news 10 days ago. Still in the trying not to feel sorry for myself stage. Anyone else?

Hi @suka1 I am so sorry you've been diagnosed with aggressive BC. It's terribly shocking to hear the words bladder removal. Please go get a second opinion with a big hospital in your area. Not sure stage of your diagnosis or where you were diagnosed at? Urologist or big cancer hospital? But I would definitely seek a second opinion as soon as possible.

Hi, New to this group, too. Granted you posted this a while ago, I hope you are feeling well.
I was diagnosed last year at 62, just a lit over 50's. Bladder cancer is more prevalant in males, although there is more recent increase in women.
Take care of yourself. 🙂 OOPS!! Accidently posted twice. lol. Apparantly, it takes a bit to post...

A belated welcome, @skind6. I hope you saw the reply from @podrunner1

Skind6, what treatments have you had? How are you doing today?

Hello skind6! I didn't even realize how long it's been since I've been on this page! I ended up getting my left kidney, ureter, and bladder cuff removed last June. I have been doing good since, just dealing with a lot of fatigue. They have found abnormal cells in my urine twice now and increased blood as well. So, I get to stay with being checked every 3 months. My dad's one sister has battled bladder cancer for several years now so definitely affects men and women both. You take care too! 💕

Hello! I'm also a new member , I'm 56, and am still waiting for my scope to get my official diagnosis of ureter and possibly bladder or kidney cancer. I'm having my scope on May 19th. From all of my scans they strongly suspect Transitional Cell Carcinoma. Is that what you have? I'm so sorry that you have been through so much already and have to start treatment again. I'll be praying that the cancer stays away. If I may ask a question... How long after your scope did you get your results?

I wish you the best of luck with your diagnosis and possible treatments if positive. 🙏

I have had stage II muscle invasive bladder cancer and am now cancer free and doing my own version of maintenance as follows:
You might want to look at taking 95% standardized curcumin wit black pepper extract to both help recovery and possibly inhibit reccurrance, I would reccomend 1000 mg doses posssibly more than once a day. It is know to reduce side effects of treatment.

Also "timed release" vitamin C is helpful for building the immune system.

There are now less invasive ways to check for reccurance than cystoscopy. You can now take a simple DNA blood test customized for your biopsy cancer DNA. I have taken the Signatera https://www.natera.com/ and just to make sure there was no false negative I also took the Galleri test, which also looks for many other types of cancer. I believe Natura is FDA approved while Galleri is not yet approved, But I think it will be.
