53F in India is depressed. Stapolam 5mg is safe?

My mother 53F in India is depressed and doesn't get sleep at night for more than 2-3 hours. Doctor has prescribed her stapolam 5. Is it mild SSRI? Oe heavy? Will she be dependent on it?
