4-Wheel Lightweight Walker

Posted by sunnyflower @sunnyflower, Feb 11, 2021

Hello. My 4-wheel walker weighs 14#. I need to get a second one but it's not available anymore on Amazon and really, I need a lighter weight one that also has a mechanism to hold it closed once folded up. Mine has a seat which I want too. I did a search and couldn't find any discussions on this. Thanks so much, warmest wishes, @sunnyflower PS: I will take any close options too.

Thx John, I saw this one. I appreciate your looking out for me! Warmest everything, Sunnyflower 🤗

@johnbishop have you used this one? I am considering getting one with a seat so I can visit my husband’s family’s Hilton Head. Need one that works out side.

@ga29, Sorry, I haven't used a walker for normal outdoors walking. I use one without wheels at night for my old man trips to the bathroom to prevent falls. For longer walks outside I've started using Nordic walking sticks. The link that I shared looked to be a good lightweight walker with a seat. Not sure you can find one much lighter than 13.5 lbs.

If it were me wanting to purchase one for myself, I would try to find a local medical supply store so that I could find something and try it before using it plus get advice from a trained therapist which most medical supply stores have.

Hello @sunnyflower

I took a look at the website where the walker is described. My mom, who passed away a year ago, had one like that. It was great for walking up and down the hallways at her assisted living facility and gave her greater control over the balance issues she was having. However, it was so heavy that I could not lift it in and out of the car when I had to take her places. The few times I tried it I was exhausted, so we just used the lightweight aluminum walker that would fold up easily.

It is really nice, though, to have the seat and the seat lifts up so that you can easily store your wallet, cell phone, etc. If you go shopping you can use it to sit down when you tire and take a rest rather than looking for a chair or bench, etc. There are lots of advantages to it but you need to consider the weight if you are going to take it outside of your home.

I plugged the words “4 wheel walker ultra lite” in the Amazon search bar, and it showed a Medline walker that weighs 11 pounds and costs less than $100.
