4 weeks post robotic RLL: What activities should I be able to do?

Posted by walkingmom @walkingmom, Aug 4 6:55am

On 7/10/25 I had a robotic RLL. Just 3 days short of 4 weeks and I'm still having a decent amount of discomfort. Pain at 2 incisions, 1 of which where the drain port was. And, I get mid back pain from partial bending and reaching (vacuuming, drying hair, putting on make up) Luckily, when I stop those activities it goes away. I feel like I should be better at this point. Is this normal? My follow up with the surgeon is Friday. I usually take 2 - 500 mg Tylenol during the day and 2 - 650 mg extended release Tylenol at bedtime. I am walking 2-3 miles daily.

I'm not sure about the grooming stuff but I do know that my friend was told no vacuuming or lifting anything of significant weight should wait 6 weeks. You may be pushing yourself too hard.

The walking is great though.

@walkingmom, I'll be interested to hear what your surgeon says later this week. It's probably a good sign that the pain stops when you stop. For the next few days before your appointment, you may want to lay low and see if that helps. You are still very early in the healing process, give yourself some time, and some grace. You've been though a lot, and your body is continuing to do hard work in healing. I'm terrible at asking for help so I understand, but is there someone that can help with some of the household chores, any capable kids around that you may want to put to work?

I am probably overdoing it a little but the vacuuming sounds worse than it is. It’s a 7 lb stick vacuum being used on wood floors and not much different than walking. I see my doctor Friday and am leaving on a 2 week vacation where I plan to do absolutely nothing!

@walkingmom, Yes a little stick vacuum makes more sense. 🙂
Good luck with your appointment and ENJOY your time away. It sounds heavenly.
