3rd knee replacement in a year and a half on same knee
I had a total knee replacement in May 2023, with pain and swelling and was unstable. Surgeon said I had to have a revised knee surgery 6 months after the first in. He told me that he didn't put the cement in the bone for the implant to be stable. After the second replacement I continue to have pain and swelling he told me that all x-rays looked good. I have been to 6 different rehabs for therapy with no results. 4 weeks ago He said that I needed to have the spacer replaced because he put the smallest one in and it needed to be higher. I am still having pain and swelling. Now I don't know what to do. I am a 65 year old female that was active be for the first knee surgery, now it hurts to stand from a setting position and feels like a tight band around my knee. If you have any information that will help I will greatly appreciate it.

2nd opinion? Sounds really messed up. Too many variables we do not know. Best wishes.
Pain upon standing and tight band feeling around knee are typical symptoms following TKR. How long ago was your last surgery. I'm sure you've been told it takes a year to heal. What a bummer that you've had to endure 3 major knee surgeries in such a short span of time. All of which sounds like due to mistakes made by the surgeon. I hope he finally got it right after 3 tries. You must have been so angry but must have also had a lot of trust each time that he would get it right "this time". Just wow.
First I would get a second opinion….. if it were me I would not let that Dr do one more thing to my knee ….in my own experience I had tkr Dr put in wrong size I found this out after going getting second opinion 8 weeks out with xray Dr took after surgery…. New Dr said it was 2-3 sizes too big that why all the pain and swelling ….. but he also told me I had to wait 1 year to do revision because it can hurt the tendons and area around the knee won’t heal properly if you operate to soon …so scare me for you that Dr was quick to do surgery on you for something he forgot to do when he was in there……get second opinion you might even need a lawyer , not sure these Dr get away with doing a lot they are not held responsible for but you should check into……I am 62 and active it is tough going through all these surgeries scar tissue is not our friend, so get your second opinion by a Dr outside your Dr network, try some mfr this will help with pain and swelling…. And good luck
