11 months out from RARP: PSA remains undetectable

Posted by kenhorse @kenhorse, Dec 29, 2023

Got the results of my (almost) 12 month PSA test back earlier today. As was the case back in July with my last one, PSA remain undetectable.

I'll take it!

Interestingly, 2 months later I underwent a right lower lung lobectomy (for a tumor found during the PSMA scan for my prostate.

I've had enough of 2023!

@kenhorse, was the lung tumor at metastasis of the prostate cancer or a new cancer? How are you doing?

REPLY

It was not metastasis as the prostate cancer was confined to the prostate (margins and lymph nodes were clear).

It was separate adenocarcinoma, also contained within my right lower lobe, clear margins and no lymph node involvement. As I said, it was found during my PSMA test.

I'm doing great actually! No pain at this point (RARP was done 1/31/23 and the lobectomy was done on 4/3. I went back into surgery on 6/21 to fix a chylothorax that didn't respond to diet (it was caused by the lobectomy and the chyle was free of malignancy). I still am dealing with the usual side effects of the RARP but things are getting better.

Back to my usual routine (I run my own business and plan on doing it until I drop as I love what I do).
