1.7 cm Pnet recently found. Is a biopsy pretty standard protocol?
A 1.7 cm Pnet was found on tail of pancreas about 4 months ago as an incidental finding. Lots of scans and a Dototate 68 Pet scan but no biopsy. My provider prefers to follow the surveillance method which is measuring it every 6 months and only act if it hits 2 cms. My biggest fear is spread to liver. Anyone aware of how risky the biopsy is. My provider doesn’t want to risk it. They are an experienced pancreatic team at large hospital as an fyi

I had a FNAC biopsy on a similar sized tumor in the same place. No one mentioned serious complications, they found that the tumor expressed chromogranin, then i did a dota scan which showed the tumor to be a NET, and i had a spleen saving distal pancreatomy last month. Wait and watch is not for everybody. But your doctor should give you a balanced explanation as to why he is hesitant to remove the tumor now.

6 ReactionsHello...I had an EGD/EUS which is a biopsy to check my pancreas if that's wat u are speaking of..? Mine went fairly well...it's pretty much the same protocol as having a upper Endoscopy if u ever had one. I didn't have any complications but everyone and everyone 's situation is different. Only abdominal pain for a few days after. Most specialists dnt like to try treatment until the tumor get of size to be treatable. Wishing the best of luck and outcome with this NETs and I'm gonna continue to pray for us ALL! 🙂
