Hi Trish, nice to see you pop up! I hope you are doing okay. How is your arm doing? Still the same? I always remember your story about how your nerve was severed during surgery (after a car accident?). You are in my thoughts dear. Any update to your saga would be appreciated. Best to you, Hank

Hi Hank, hope you are doing well! You are so sweet. Same old story here and I feel the pandemic has made this harder. Harder to get help harder to see people and very alone. Condition the same Neuropathy getting worst. Thing is if you saw me you can’t see it. Usually on neuro site but checking pain because that’s all I really think about. My best to you Hank. Thanks for reaching out.

Never heard of that group. I have severe pain in both legs due to Neuropathy. [nerve damage] Feet feel like they are on fire, at those times I put feet on ice packs. Gabapentin 400 mg three times day should be tried. Neuropathy can only be diagnosed by getting a Nerve Conduction Test. This is done by a Neurologist.I believe mine was caused when muscles in thighs had to be cut while doing Hip Replacement Surgery. I can not give medical advice. Just saying get a NCT to make sure. Good Luck

@londonwc1 Thank you for responding. I have been diagnosed with peripheral neuropathy by tests done by a neurologist. What I am seeking is help with the pain, balance and swelling. I take Gabapentine 900 mg daily. I am taking recommended vitamins and B12 shots weekly. Nothing seems to help. I was just looking for any recommendation or knowledge of the Ethos Group. They only have locations in Florida and Maryland. Kind of like the Mayo Clinics. One clinic is not that far from me in Maryland and was thinking it might be good to just look into it. If anyone has heard of ETHOS HEALTH GROUP for neuropathy and knee pain please let me know.

I smashed my toe under a door and traumatized the toenail maybe 30 years ago. Since then, the toenail became more and more painful as it grew long and it no longer grew correctly after having been smashed. The cuticle became deformed in a way that the toenail seemed to be detached in pockets underneith thus why it was so painful as it grew. Perhaps that is why I didn't respond well to the treatment, I really don't know. It's just painful as heck now and taking longer than anyone expected to heal. Meanwhile, I developed warts on the bottom of my feet that over time grew more painful over the years. Meanwhile, I discovered I had osteoparosis arthritis in my lower back and after a while I started pain management and was getting a series of shots. I've been a caregiver all my life and can admit I've neglected myself somewhat and Meanwhile, my husband has cancer and I had nursed him through 2 boughts of pnuemonia and a surgery that seemed touch and go there for a bit all almost within 1 1/2 years. Then I started getting myself back on track. Soon after I had my first Dr. appointment for myself, come Thanksgiving eve 2020, I had another heart attack and was rushed into surgery to have another stent put in the other main artery. My first heart attack was in 2010. At this point, I was preparing for tripple by-pass surgery. I figured that even though my brain wasn't processing the idea of my chest being cracked open, I didn't want to be laid up with my feet killing me and a tooth ache and not being able to do anything about it so I was really just going through the motions of preparing myself for the unimaginable. God afforded me the time to fix my feet, get a tooth pulled and quit smoking cold turkey and scarfing down nothing but fruits, veggies, walnuts and grains throughout my rehab. Meanwhile, I returned to my foot Dr. with my complaints and he prescribed me an ointment to apply twice a day.and this is my second day so far and I can't tell much of a difference right now. Meanwhile, I just found out that I am doing so well that I don't have to have the major surgery now. I will be able to resolve other blockage issues with stents Thank you Jesus.

@veda Ouch! You have had a lot to deal with. It make take a bit of time for the ointment to work. If the discomfort is more than you think you should have to deal with, contact that same dr and find out if there is something you can do for that side effect. Kinda like "bark is worse than the bite", right?

I'm sorry to hear things are no better. Are you just plain alone? Do you have family members or friends to reach out to? I know with covid we have been unable to visit any family members in almost a year. My mother turns 99 on 2/16, but she seems so vital I think we will get to be with her for her 100th next year (fingers crossed). But what about you, any family at all? Hank

B12, get your blood tested, you might not need it. "I didn't" blood level went to high. just don't blindly take things , you should have your blood tested before having B12 or anything else injected.I truly hate saying this but the nerves are damaged, you cannot make them whole. After 20 yrs of if Gabapentin is the best that can be done. Be CAREFUL,take twice a day instead of three.Google Long term use off Gabapentin. It can cause Erosive Gastritis and more. Read everything you can, You must be your own health advocate.I might be old 86 but I'm smart.. MOST IMPORTANT ASK QUESTIONS>

Your right we might look wonderful but inside is a different story.I am new here. my name is Jackie, I have had neuropathy for 18yrs. and it makes our lives miserable.I am old and in so much pain I rarely leave my Condo on the beach, when I do go down the elevator and see people in the lobby they say, Hi Jack OMG you look wonderful.[on the outside] In London I was a model.I used to ballroom dance, traveled the world. Now all has changed. I miss my life, friends have passed on. and we are left with pain and alone.and to top it off this blAsted COVID Virus. This is supposed to be uplifting, but the truth is always there. Be very carful with gabapentin. Google Long Term Affects. I honestly wish you well

Hi everyone, it's been a while since I've been here and just thought I'd drop by with my 2 cents worth. Like most of you, I too have neuropathy. I am in the early stages and I noticed my feet getting a little worse lately. It feels like I always have socks on even when I don't. and if I walk bare foot they feel like I am walking on small soft pellets. I have not had the burning and swelling that I have heard a lot complain about, not yet anyway. My legs are what is painful to me. Sometimes the pain is so bad it wakes me from a sound sleep and involves my entire body, at those times , I find it hard to move, to even roll over to get something to take out of my bed side stand. Dr. has me on gabapentin 300 mgs, 4 at night and 2 in the am. Also is trying me on Diclofenac cream but hasn't done much good that I can notice. I have Tramadol tabs but there again doesn't help a whole lot. I am having 3 different types of pain and I think that is adding to the difficulty in treating me. I have back surgery in 2017 and didn't help, it didn't make it any worse just didn't help. I have severe spasms in my lower back that stop me in my tracks. I take muscle relaxants and I do have some relief with them. I also have pain from arthritis, I have it is my back, both hips, both shoulders, neck and right knee, then there is the neuropathy pain. There are days I can barely make it to the bathroom and at the time of this writing they haven't found much that helps any of it. My daughter also has neuropathy and complains of pain far more than I do, I have no doubt that hers is much worse than mine is. I was searching the web for ideas on natural pain meds, I came across one called Kratom, has anyone ever tried it? I want to try it but with so many medication being discouraged in older adults, have decided to wait and see if anyone else has tried it first. I sent for it and it is sitting in my drawer un opened. From what I am understanding, it's very effective, all natural and works like an opioid. I hope everyone finds something that works for them and I hope when they do, they will share it with this group. In the mean time I wish everyone to be safe and as happy as possible.. thanks for letting me share my 2 cents worth... Jeanie

@nlong53 Welcome to this group we are a caring group. May I ask if you had an injury to your foot or back ? This sounds like neuropathy but you should have it comfirmed by a neurologist .
