Thoracic, Thanks for sharing your response. I tried Tegritol and it made me sick. I am on neurontin now and in my situation the burning mouth has evolved into painful nasal passages and cheeks next to my nose ( sinuses). My pcp suspects that I have glosspharangeal neuralgia which involves a nerve thing next to the trigeminal nerves. My burning mouth has evolved into an unbearable, excruciating type of pain..it is unbearable. He has me on oxycodone temporarily until I get in to see the neurosurgeon he has referred me to in Atlanta. So I’m really hoping to get answers. It’s very scary.

I suffered with burning mouth, tongue and tooth over 3 1/2 years and did many things. Finally smart doc at emergency room stopped the burning and recommended esophagus scope. Turns out I have gastritis with hyperplasia, acid reflux and bile reflux, and Barrett’s esophagus. Treatment with ppi 40 mg twice daily for reflux and sucralfate liquid 10ml 4 times daily, and baclofen 5 mg three times daily. I first took pantapazole(sp) then Prilosec and now Nexium as the ppi. I chew pepsid complete once or twice daily if I get any burn break out. Took a good 30 days to notice burning pain improvement. At 60 days was able to stop pain pills and pregabalin as my burning mouth pain level had really decreased My burning is gone for many hours during the day and night and it’s wonderful. My body can now relax. Healing is not quick but with patience treatment for reflux works,

The burning in mouth and then burning in nasal passages is a definite symptom of reflux. Your reflux can be from lower esophagus spinster or upper esophagus spinster. I never knew I had reflux. I never felt anything in my esophagus or mouth. I think the nerve endings from esophagus might relay the burning to mouth and nasal passages but just guessing, I would get an esophagus scope and in the mean time ask your doctor about treating for reflux.
