Lupron treatment and Fatigue...

Posted by ronc320403 @ronc320403, Jan 3 12:11pm

I am having to decide about Lupron dosages. I can either got monthly or go quarterly. I would get a 3 month dose, in 90 days check the PSA.

I am a care giver for my wife, is the Lupron going to knock me down so I will not be able to tend to our needs, such as meal, laundry and doing the shopping?

Been on Luprin for 6 weeks. Fatigue late in the afternoon but no hot flashes so far. I feel lucky.

Same thing here. Would always get the comments...."your bladder isn't full enough".

I take 3 month Eligard injections and Darolutamide. Hot flashes are horrible but I just try and roll through them. When they come and my skin feels like it is on fire and I start sweeting I go outside in the code to cool off and it helps. The worst is when I am taking a knap and wake up feeling like I cannot breath and then I am hit with a hot flash. That is how mine always start. It is a feeling in you stomach and it starting moving up. There is a few seconds where it feels like all the air in my lung escape and them it move up to my shoulders and head and ends with perfuse sweeting. I do not want my doctor to lower my meds because I would rather live with hot flashes than make mistake and have the cancer advance on me. Right now I am undetectable and I plan on staying that way for many years. Regardless, hot flashes suck.

Dear Sir,
I was on Lupron for 2-1/4 years. I was exhausted! My wife and I have to move her 95 year old Mother who suffered a stroke 15 years ago and was affected on her left side. I had been a colliegate wrestler and always fit. Lupron has made me a weakling. I am very nervous that I will drop my mother in law or injure both of us. If the tasks for your wife is only making food and shopping you can make it (don't hype out over a messy house). But if your wife is bed ridden and in need of turning and washing and lifting, in my humble opinion you will need extra people to assist you in caring for your wife. Please call your Cancer Doctor and get the numbers and contacts for the associations and institutions that provide in home care in your area. None of us are Superman, but I wish you well and a recovery for your wife. God Bless

I am on a break from the Lupron currently at 7 months, PSA at 0.04. If it rises at all I'm going to advocate that the Doctor put me back on it. Yes, awful side effects and all!! I agreed with my wife that longevity was the prime objective when we decided to take the EBRT, HIR and ADT protocol route to slow the deadly effects of prostate cancer and the agonizing painful death of final stage pc bone cancer. As my 90 year old Mother told me and my 8 surviving siblings (of her and my Father's 12 children) on her hospice bed, "Life is for the Living! So enjoy the life you have!" Carpe Diem!

Gad, I hurt for you three. Bless you for tending to your M-I-L and she was like mine, she was my stand in Mom. My wife has end stage COPD and there won't be any long term getting better buy I intend to stay around for her. I'm 82, she's 76 so I'll take the Lupron as long as it takes.
Hugs to your wife, your Mother In Law and when no one's looking, give yourself a hug too!

After initial 30 day Eligard shot, I was fortunate enough to see my PSA drop from 10 to 3.4 Testosterone (food for cancer) dropped from 461 to a mere 2.5 Then I received the next and final 90 day shot while receiving the 28 day SBRT. Hot flashes at night are miserable but the ceiling fan remote in hand helps. Zero libido and daytime sleepiness is another curveball we are forced to deal with. Just trying to keep my eye on the prize and stay positive til its over... 66 yrs. old

I had the 6 month injection of Lupron 6/30/23 and side effects are miserable. Hot flashes suck, stomach issues, difficult breathing(shortness of breath) are a few of the side effects. I followed the shot with 39 EBRT which just ended a few months ago. This road is not for the faint of heart that’s for sure. One thing that is so frustrating to me who was in great athletic shape for a guy 70 years old is the non responsiveness of your cancer team from the radiation oncologist to the PCP, and somewhat the urologist. I have been sick with stomach issues since the EBRT started having passed out 2 times now, bloated stomach where I look like a 9 month pregnant woman, hot flashes and little appetite. Everyone responds differently from the ADT shot and radiation treatments. I’m not upset with any of my doctors I just want to start feeling better.
Wish all you guys the best, and for you that say that during radiation you were told you needed to drink more water, NEVER guys did I get told that! You obviously weren’t drinking that much water. I know, during my 39 EBRT I figured it out!
