Believe it or not they believed tramadol was NOT addictive for years. We (pharmacists) pushed and pushed for the FDA to change its category to controlled long before they ever did. I met with DEA agents and wrote letters as many of my colleagues did.
Finally they changed the drug to controlled and issued warnings about its addictive traits— traits we had been warning about for years, since its release into the market.

That is what the DEA is for.

@faithwalker007 Since 2005 when I fractured my back at work . THe Dr has had me on Tramadol50 mg at first 4-6 a day now Im on I at night time for a good sleep without pain someday I dont even take it so I dont know if Im just not the addictive type is there such a person ?

Yes there is and then there is taking pain meds for what they are prescribed.

@faithwalker007 Thanks that's what a Dr years ago told me take only perscribtion no more or you become addicted

There are those folks who have what’s called addictive personality traits. This is thought to be both genetic and learned behavior both— nurture and nature. I think and many do, that the nurture overrules nature.

There are those folks who have what’s called addictive personality traits. This is thought to be both genetic and learned behavior both— nurture and nature. I think and many do, that the nurture overrules nature.

My pleasure, it's an honor to pray for you. Sometimes God says not yet, or no, I love you too much, and often He answers in part and we can miss it bc there are so many other things going on which which
Distract us and divert us from the realization that he has answered in part. You are a trooper for sure and I pray for Matt relief and Victory in your life and that you would be acutely aware of your innumerable blessings in the situation you are in which is no small thing (gross understatement!!!) Hi Renee, my understanding about Tramadol was that it is an opiate product with an epinephrine product added to it thinking that would prevent the opiate euphoria. I remember always clenching my teeth and having insomnia when I took it and it really wasn't strong enough for my type of pain. I don't know if my understanding is correct but I never liked the drug anyway. Take care and again thanks for your good information! Many blessings, and warmest wishes, Sunny flower

Jim, after reading your post and your doctor's statement that "CIDP is an umbrella label for neuropathies" I wondered whether that was true. So I did some web research about it.

From what I read I think your doctor has it backwards, i.e. neuropathy is an umbrella term that includes CIDP as one type, not the other way around.

From what I am reading, CIDP is auto immune, attacks the myelin sheath, similar to multiple sclerosis, with CIDP attacking peripheral nerves instead of the brain & spinal cord as in MS. Other types of neuropathy beside CIDP are the result of nerve damage from other causes (unrelated to immune attacks on the myelin sheath). So CIDP is just a particular type of neuropathy, and not the other way around.

I'm glad I read about it, as I now understand it little better myself. Best, Hank
