Welcome, @cookad. I'm tagging @alijua who was also diagnosed with Multiple endocrine neoplasia (MEN) 2 medullary thyroid cancer, albeit MEN type 2A rather than 2B. You can connect with other members dealing with medullary thyroid cancer in this related discussion too:

.
First to your question about a specialists at Mayo, Jacksonville. Mayo Clinic specialists work as a team to listen, counsel and treat people who have multiple endocrine neoplasia, type 2 (MEN 2). The team may include experts in endocrinology, endocrine surgery, gastroenterology, neurosurgery, oncology, interventional radiology, radiation oncology, medical genetics and other areas if needed. You may wish to contact Mayo Clinic to ask more specifics. Here's how http://mayocl.in/1mtmR63

@cookad, is this a new diagnosis for you? Have you had any treatment yet or a treatment plan?

So she had two kids that had it and then her daughter had two children and one of them has it but my my brother and I did not get it , nor did our parents have it so it must have been a mutated gene maybe that started with my sister …
