Lupron treatment and Fatigue...
I am having to decide about Lupron dosages. I can either got monthly or go quarterly. I would get a 3 month dose, in 90 days check the PSA.
I am a care giver for my wife, is the Lupron going to knock me down so I will not be able to tend to our needs, such as meal, laundry and doing the shopping?

I was on it for 13 months and it slowed me down but not more. Some guys are on it for years. You will still be able to function, just feel a little tired Good luck
I would say, maybe not. You will likely experience fatigue, joint and muscle stiffness along with hot flashes. They will likely be annoying. There are ways to mitigate those, exercise is one, diet another, your medicalcan help with the hot flashes, you can find time to take short naps as needed.
Thank you both, really appreciate it.
Had Lupron. Got the fatigue. Just had to power through it. Venlafaxine 37.5 2x daily helped with my hot flashes.
Maxvt. My pcp had me on venlafaxin also for the hots. Do you have any side effects? I stopped talking it. I had a suprapubic catheter and the meds really messed with my bladder spasms. Catheter now gone wondering if I should try again. Thank you for input
In early May ‘22, I had the one Lupron shot, a 3-month one.
Shortly after, the hot flashes began ans I soon switched my AD meds to Venlafaxine and the hot flashes subsided.
I had no more Lupron shots.
Aug 23, ‘22, I had the RALP and the catheter inserted. I had two bladder spasms one afternoon about 6 days later. I was told this was not unexpected. The catheter was removed a few days later, with no ill effects.
I have not noticed any side effects from the Venlafaxine and I continue to take it as my AD medication.
Best of luck to you!
Thank you. I may try again.
Appr4eciate. My wife has to keep the house very warm so I'm dreading the hot flashes as much as anything. Your tip on the Venlafaxine will hopefully help. I will probably get my first 3 month shot later this month or early Feb. Take care.
My flashes were in the months of Central Texas summer, generally 95+ temps every day, often 100+ - brutal.
I hope it helps you!
My husband has been on Lupron for many years now, and has had both the three-month and six-month shots over that time. He is now 77 and while he has some fatigue, probably due to being on both Lupron and Zytiga, it does not keep him from exercising, doing yard work, errands, chores, or any other daily activities. I don't think Lupron will prevent you from carrying out your caregiver duties. Good luck to both you and your wife.
