@lorirenee1 I'm so sorry you had to go through this . You shouldn't have that much pain sounds like they nipped not only a nerve but muscles also . Certainly would be grounds for a law suit . Keep all the documents you have ,make copies . In the O.R. we did a lot of gallbladder surgeries ,never had anyone have these after affects . God bless you

Hi @donfeld, you'll notice that I removed your personal email address. We advise that you use the secure private message function to share personal contact information.
@gayle1, welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect. You can learn more about how to use Connect, including how to send a private message, here: https://connect.mayoclinic.org/get-started-on-connect/

To all, with respect to the use of Kratom, I'd like to offer this note from a Mayo Clinic pharmacist:

"Kratom is a natural product but it does have significant risks and side effects. Because of these risks the FDA banned import of Kratom in August 2016 and issued a notice of intent to classify 2 chemicals in Kratom as Schedule 1 drugs (the same category as heroin). There are no FDA-approved uses for kratom, and the agency has received concerning reports about the safety of kratom. FDA is actively evaluating all available scientific information on this issue. (2019) https://www.fda.gov/news-events/public-health-focus/fda-and-kratom

Kratom can cause dependence and withdrawal symptoms including aggression, anxiety and other negative psychiatric effects, muscle aches, spasms, tremors, insomnia, fever and upset stomach. It can also cause dangerous slowed breathing and seizures. It can worsen psychiatric disease and may increase the risk of suicide. Kratom can impair liver function. Kratom interacts with other herbal medications including Jimson Weed. It interacts with sedating medications. It has the potential for many other drug interactions because of the way it is metabolized."

Don, Why don't you go onto ethanaturals.com and check out their pills. There are different bags of pills at different prices. Also if you register with them, they send you 30% off coupons all the time, on everything. I do not know what you want to buy, so I am not sure what to tell you. The average bag of pills that I buy is $25 to $30 bucks, and I buy 3 or 4 bags at a time. This lasts about 2 months. Please feel free to ask me more if needed!! LoriRenee1

@gayle1 Hi, Gayle. I can answer you here also, if you want to know about Kratom. But to private message me, go to the top right hand side of the screen, where there is a little envelope next to your profile page. Click on the envelope, and that is where you can do private messages. I just thought private might be better because you are sure to find my message easily. But either one is good. I do not know what i would do without Kratom. I literally could not handle my life. Looking forward to hearing from you. Lorirenee1

@colleenyoung Thanks for posting this. I do know that all people need to know of the potential for Kratom abuse. Like any other medication, Kratom can be taken improperly by taking way too much, too often, or mixing it with other recreational, harmful drugs. However, if take wisely, it is a substance that has given people their lives back again. It has helped people come off opiods, helps intense chronic pain, helps to relax, and in very small amounts, can create energy. Deaths from Kratom are due to it's abuse. I have studied police reports from Kratom over dose, and it has generally been from the 20-27 year old age people, "partying," with Kratom. I do not know what I would do without this miracle plant. But I treat it wisely, and with the respect it deserves. Lori
