@goldenyearsisbs I was on Fosamax for 4.5 years. I am no longer taking Fosamax. I was tested before and after that 4.5 years period of time. I made significant gains in bone density along with the diet and exercise I maintained during that time. I don't have those numbers in front of me but I can check them and report back to you. I did not have any side effects such as the headache and nausea you reported on the day you take the Fosamax. If those side effects are effecting your quality of life you could talk with your doctor about alternative medications. I have friends who could not take Fosamax because of the gastrointestinal side effects they experienced. Working with their respective doctors they did find something else that worked for them.

I am following this discussion with great interest - thank you for all your insights. I have mild osteoporosis and want to regain bone density; ideally through nutrition and exercise and no medication. Do you think that’s possible?
