Voltaren gel
My wife has chronic pain in her hip and hamstring. MRI negative. Physical Therapy no help. Acupuncture no help. Is Voltaren gel safe to try? I read it can cause liver damage.

That's excellent. I've been taking 4-6 acetaminophen every day for 40+ YEARS. Some days I get relief, others not so much. So glad it works for you! 👍🏽💯
I was also given Voltaren gel specifically for my neck. It does help when it hurts but I also used if for other things now as well. However I was told my my sports medicine guy that if the problem is deeper it often doesn't work well. Only so much gets absorbed into the system. It hasn't helped much with my knee or deep muscle/joint issues.
Hello, I swear by diclofenac gel not the cream as it seems to penetrate better but I usually try other alternatives first like heat/ice/stretching and if all else fails and I still have extreme pain, I'll use an extra strength salon pas patch to provide long lasting relief. Be careful that you don't leave them on longer than directed, I forgot once and it was difficult to remove the patch, my skin turned red and hurt. I have kidney disease so my doctors said using the diclofenac cream although an nsaid, is better for me than taking oral nsaids. Tylenol helps as well but it bother me with my GI issues. I try one thing, if no relief, i try another and so on until I'm able to finally get some relief. Pain management is always a struggle and sometimes a never-ending battle.
I hop you are able to find some relief.
Hugs
When my arthritis in my lower back acts up, I use a salon pain patch with lidocaine. It’s a 50/50 solution. If it does not ease the pain, my doctor gave me an Rx of 800mg of ibuprofen and to take with 2 Tylenol tablets. This helps ease the pain or gets rid of it. I would only take this on a full stomach once a day but it does work. Pain management is so individual and best to speak to a pain management doctor.
Hope everyone can find their own way of relief!
Tried it on my knees and had to quit it after several days: developed suppurating rash at application sites, heart palpitations and general aches. Pus and palps went away after a few days but rash still visible after approx. 6 weeks.
My husband uses it on his hands for arthritis.
Please be very careful if you have a dog because it can kill them if they get it on them.
The pills are also great
Wish I could do the pills but can’t
I tried the gel on my knees, could not stand the smell.
I have used it for years and it often helps calm down my pain. I lived outside of US for two decades and used the 2.2% Voltaren gel available outside of this country. Perhaps you have a way to procure it from other countries. . It gave me much relief. In the US, I can only find 1% gel or cream, but it also helps some. I also use prescription Lidocaine patches when I will be in bad positions like on airplane for long flight, or standing and walking for all day outings.
Combining the generic Voltarin gel with patches does generally improve my mobility and mood. I hope it is helpful for her.
