Continual zapping and tugging down leg

Posted by kaztaz @kaztaz, Dec 28, 2023

I have had continual electric shock type feeling and tugging and pulling spasms 24/7 in my right leg. This started after spinal fusion in March and gradually getting worse to being unbearable......it is really hard to explain, its like someone has put an electric cattle prod in the back of my knee and dragging it up and down the leg front and back and the muscles continually spasm. Also I have the feeling on fright /fight feeling in the leg continually as well. My middle toe pulls down and the top of my foot gets the zaps as well. This is driving me insane, the drs and specialists just say there is nothing more they can do.....if that is the case....I'm out of here. Is there anyone out there has had or have similar that can help me with some home treatments? Thanks

I had a few episodes of a single electric shock to my leg, happened on both but individually on different days. The pattern is me always laying on my back and wakes me out of my sleep. I had a less severe one that just felt like a warm flash of heat to my heal. I had them several months before my cervical fushion and 2 months after. It has been 11 months since Ive had one. No one knows what its from. I dont know what to do myself if it happens again but I can empathaize for sure.

Have you considered a TENS unit to try to disrupt the signal from your spine down your leg?

I have a TENS unit and a Muscle Massage device too that I use when needed. My wife has sciatica and she uses hers 2-3 times a week. My main pain control are buprenorphine patches that I change every 7 days. I use THC/CBD for breakthrough pain instead of Percocet.

One thing that has helped me the most is mindfulness meditation for pain when sleeping. I hate y to wake myself up enough to take pain meds when my pain wakes me up. MM has been a life saver to help me gain more control of my life.
