@lillee She is a beautiful child, and her beautiful soul shines out of her eyes. The life you have afforded her has helped you both.

I completely agree about the issues with pain management. I fortunately have found some alternatives that work for most of the time. CBD, stretching, Tylenol, gentle movement mostly, because my other health issues won't allow strong painkiller. But I do know some people who abuse pain medications, I despise their actions (and have told them so!) and it is because of them we have the laws, and Dr's who are scared to fairly treat patients. Like so many other times, the innocent pay the highest price for the actions of a few.

I don't blame the docs but at some time they give ones who don't need the meds then look at me a double amputee after 98 surgeries with lupus and tell me that they can't give me anything because of others abusing it somethings wrong there ?

lillee, i couldn't agree more! I finaly asked one if he would come into work every day and see paitients if he suffered headaches? He said of course not! Then I said I work every day and i have to have something to do my regular job. There was an article in our paper this Am that talked about a new blue pill circulating that was sold as Oxy. bit it may have one pebble of Fentinaul in it that could kill you instantly. A year and a half my wife suffered a severe infection, unknown, Morphine would not help! They finally gave her fenitnaul(sp?). It cut her miserey. She is still alive and is not hooked on drugs.
I am lucky to have an "OLD TIME DOC" that dosen't believe all the pain pill hype. He an I have a good working relationship and talk about what I need openly. In my state I have to do a urinalist every six months. Every human has some addictive qualities! In many of our cases, the doc or others are not living in our bodies! They don't know our pain we are suffering! We all have different levels of pain!
We are bleesed with mondern medicine that can give us something to make our life a little better.

What a cutie...I have read all of your postings and agree that anyone who depends on narcotics and analgesics of any kind will be having a great deal of problem getting them now. Since last year when the federal government handed down new rules for physicians and pharmaceutical companies on how to distribute these prescription drugs, all states now have the opportunity to regulate them. In this article by Harvard Health - you can read about what is becoming an increasingly difficult road for everyone. It's like the one child in your class that does a dumb thing and the entire class is punished for his deed. There are so many deaths from the overuse on the streets of these drugs - the wrong people with the wrong use of the drugs with the wrong outcomes that are driving the present situation. Too many deaths in other words. There doesn't promise to be an end any time soon.

As Ginger identified as well as this article made mention, seek to find alternatives to the drugs. They are ONLY a short term course for you. Your body will feel the effects of withdrawal from not having them but you will recover. Instead, use other means to gain control of your mental - pain gate - capacity in your brain. Your perception of pain begins in your brain and ends up where the pain is located. Pressure points - finding them and pressing them on your body will help to relieve and release some of the endorphins that your body naturally manufactures to relieve pain. You can find them as well as having a massage therapist do it for you. [If I have a simple stuffy nose, I press on either side of my nose, under my eyes, above my nose/eyes for a few seconds and release the sinuses ] Nodules build up with lactic acid and can cause pain. Releasing them and drinking water - will help to rid the body of this acid.

The other option that should be done is to write your Legislator in your district, state and government - and let them know this is an issue that plays havoc in your life. If they don't know their constituents are having problems with this issues, then they assume everything is fine, which it is NOT.
Here is the website https://www.usa.gov/elected-officials where you can find your state's representatives - so you can be a friend to your communities/ state and governor. Back home - all of my Reps knew me personally because I was writing and talking to them about issues from A-Z that directly and indirectly related to me as well as those who benefited the greater good. It's worth a shot because one never knows whats around the corner. Eloise

Less than 5% of so called narcotic overdoses are from prescription meds though. The fenyenl that drug abusers overdose on is really hillbilly heroin. It is a homebrewed version. It was never made by a pharmaceutical company. But the overdose number are driven by heroin overdoses. Which the media labels as narcotics. Which gets turned into prescription meds by everyone. Then our leaders take the numbers and think they have to do big things to stop these. Well,if people want to get high. They're going to get high and overdose. You WILL Never stop that. They will invent a new way to get high. But alcohol kills hundred of thousands of more people. But no one stops that. Our leaders turn a blind eye on those numbers. Do you know alcohol kills more every year than what deaded in both world wars combined?? Yes,those number are correct. But no one gives a hoot about that. Sorry for the rant. But the twisted numbers drive me crazy. But yes us patients have to take care of ourselves. I have learn that keeping my mind busy is some of the best meds

I will say that pain management doctors have really failed patients anymore. They spend all they're time worrying about narcotics and covering they're butts. They forget about true pain patients that have never abused meds once. I had a pain doctors a couple years ago that I had been a patient with him for years. I had been using morphine for over 30 years without one issue. With the FDA new guidelines came out he told all of his patients he was stopping all patients narcotics. And I mean every patients overnight. The most ridiculous thing I have ever seen. Thank goodness I have an awesome mayo doctor that doesn't get all involved into the media hype. I pray you find a truely caring doctor that will help you. Because being in pain 24/7 can wear on you so badly. And it wears on you mental health so much too. But we're all here to help if you need it

Tazscott, how true you are. Just go through any of the differnent Threads and this is what you say. One of the news programs had an interesting item. They said our media makes the news! Five years from now you won't hear about all of this, it will be something else they drum up to attempt to scare us all!
