@gingerw Never thought of talking to it thanks cause I'm not going for that stimulator

@lilee This might sound strange, but "talk" to your pain. Just like you would to another person. This pain is with you 24/7. You want to understand it, but you want to have the upper hand, not the other way around. Ask what would be a most comfortable position or activity. Tell your pain you value its presence as it lets you know you've perhaps done too much on a certain day, but you need to be able to live fully, and be there for your goddaughter. Talk to it as a friend, an ally, and you may be pleasantly surprised to find your pain lessons and your attitude changes for the better I might add!

Distraction is a huge part. Keeping very busy is a huge help. Don't get caught in that pain circle. Truely finding things that keep your mind in other places is a huge help. Hobbies, riding motorcycles, your favorite car rides. If your doing something that absorbs your mind. Your not thinking of pain. And dioframic breathing can be super useful during very bad days too. There are free apps for your phone and computer to teach you how to do it. Don't blow it off. It truely works. I know it sounds crazy. But I have lived with terrible pain for 37 years after 2 helicopter crashes. I wouldn't share if it didn't work. Stretching a couple times a day helps in the long run too. You will feel worse at first. But stick with it.

I was just curious. I have 2 of them. And yes, they only work for less than 50% of patients out there. Now ,I haven't had any side effects. Do you go to Rochester by chance ?

I have been struggling with Chiari 1 Malformation, really bad, since my Recalled Takata Airbag blew up. I am really having a hard time finding a Patient Advocate, when I do not feel good, which is for the last year, I cannot think of what to ask. I just accept what the doctors say, and go home. I need a counselor, who understands what I am going through. Today rather than removing my swollen Gallbladder, the Surgeon wanted to admit me to the hospital for Failure to Thrive. I have lost 4 inches in 1 year. I have insurance, I cannot FIND a proper Counselor or anyone for that matter, who cares, to even hear the word Chiari. Thank you if you can help me, as we are running in circles, and I am so weak, I am tired of thinking of this, dealing with this. I do not plan on Surgery for decompression.

@jennyannsaal Since I didn't know what this is I researched it so debilitating I'm so sorry .What I saw was you need a good neurologist or maybe be you have one. The article said you need to listen to your body and research yourself.I wish I could help but that's all I found.Bless you
